Benefits
Connecting with other Woodturners
Our members meet once a month in person and over Zoom to watch demonstrations of woodturning. Each monthly meeting is a chance to connect with members in person to hear and see what they have been doing. It is a chance to be inspired to try new woodturning projects.
There is also the opportunity to meet over Zoom every Saturday morning at our "Coffee Break" to discuss woodturning and socialize. Members also communicate over Facebook, text each other, and visit each other's shop. Members are willing to help other members learn to be better woodturners. Just ask and someone will help.
Show and Tell
"Show and Tell" takes place at our monthly meetings. Members bring in their latest project(s) to show what they are working on. It's a great way to become inspired and motivated to increase your woodturning skills. From beginners to our most advanced turners you will get ideas for your next woodturning project.
Free Wood
Members and others donate wood from trees, finished wood, pen blanks, and more at most meetings as part of our monthly wood raffle. Community members and arborists share wood with the club from trees that are getting cut down. In an afternoon you can pick up more wood than you'll use in a year....all for free, except for a little labor.
Mentors
Members of the club will share their expertise just for asking. Some members will provide training to new members. You will also learn the best sources of information and some of the world's best woodturners to follow. We also mentor students at Madison Middle School and individual students that are learning woodturning.
Demonstrations
Through club meetings, symposiums, YouTube, and other turning opportunities you get to watch and learn from some of the best woodturners. Watch some of the club's best woodturners demonstrate how to turn a project. Then go home and try it. You also have a chance to ask questions and discuss with club members to learn the techniques they would use to complete the demonstrator's woodturning project.
